The Baptist Collegiate Ministry at East Tennessee State University offers a unique way to get involved with college ministry through a two-semester internship. This gives you an opportunity to meet new people, learn about other people, discover new ideas, and experience first hand the ins and outs of campus ministry. - About Johnson City, Tennessee
- For almost two centuries, Johnson City has been the center for tourism and business in Northeast Tennessee. Originally a train depot, Johnson City is now a metropolitan melting pot with invigorating music, enchanting culture, and exhilarating mountain adventure.
Home to East Tennessee State University, the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, Freedom Hall and the Carnegie Hotel, the city flourishes with tradition, heritage, and hospitality. Its natural beauty and fresh mountain air make Johnson City the perfect location to live, work or visit.
Washington County is also home to Historic Jonesborough: Tennessee’s oldest town, and the International Storytelling Center. Since 1973 the National Storytelling Festival takes over Jonesborough each October for a weekend of tall tales in a storybook setting.
Family fun abounds in Johnson City and the surrounding areas. Local festivals include the Blue Plum Festival, Fun Fest, the Apple Festival and the Rhythm & Roots Reunion. Enjoy outdoor adventure at Boone Lake, Watauga Lake, and nearby Roan Mountain State Park. - About East Tennessee State University
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is an accredited American university, founded October 2, 1911 and located in Johnson City, Tennessee. It is part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system of colleges and universities. ETSU has small off-campus centers in nearby Kingsport, Bristol, Elizabethton, and Greeneville, Tennessee.
Graduate programs include a fully accredited medical school, the Quillen College of Medicine, named in honor of U.S. Congressman James H. Quillen who successfully fought for its creation in the 1970s. In 2005 a College of Pharmacy was approved which further augmented the medical specialties at ETSU. Classes in the ETSU College of Pharmacy began in January 2007. The university is listed by The Princeton Review in their 2007 edition of America’s Best Value Colleges.
ETSU has been increasingly noted for its Appalachian Studies programs and features a nationally acclaimed and accredited program in Bluegrass and Country Music. Recording star Kenny Chesney, 2004 and 2006 Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year, graduated from the school, and holds a degree in advertising.[4] Another notable ETSU attendee is Timothy Busfield, known for his Emmy Award-winning role on the popular 1980s TV series thirtysomething. Busfield attended ETSU for a short while, but did not graduate. He starred in a series of advertisements for the school in the late 1980s.
ETSU boasts a faculty/staff of nearly 3,000 and a student body of approximately 13,000. The school colors are blue and gold and the schools nickname is the Buccaneers.

The BCM provides a balanced program of Bible study, worship, music, prayer, fellowship, retreats, missions, intramurals, student leadership, ministry, outreach, recreation, and much more! About the Internship
Job description:
To assist the BCM director; provide a verbal and visual example of Christian leadership through attitude, actions, and ministry; be a support/help to council members as well as all BCM students; work the number of hours necessary to accomplish local collegiate ministry.
Responsibilities include:
Meet with the director daily to discuss, report, and perform designated assignments. Meet with director weekly for purposes of accountability. Assist with planning, implementation, and evaluation of BCM programs. Send weekly email to students and adult supporters. Attend local associational meetings. Update the Process Notebook of BCM events and procedures. Develop ongoing relationships with new students and ministry partners. Be available, present, and ready to help for all BCM events
*Required to attend all BCM events- to be the first to arrive and last to leave
Compensation:
Housing is furnished for the intern as well as a monthly stipend.
